Jambo!
Jambo! Habari? (Hello, How are you?) Karibu (Welcome) to the Website of the Embassy of Tanzania, Tokyo, Japan. In this website, you will find continuous information on Tanzania, the land of Kilimanjaro, whose political and economic landscape has been changing rapidly within the period 1995-2005. These changes for the better have attracted widespread interest. International interest in Tanzania has grown mainly because of the unique history of peace and stability but also due to the abundant natural resources, the wide unspoiled natural habitat, with rich flora and fauna, the paleontological and archeological sites containing significant evidence of being the birthplace of humanity, the friendliness of the people and the richness of their culture. A welcome upsurge of interest in Tanzania exists also in Japan. Many Japanese wish to know about the famous Tanzania tourist attractions such as Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, the Spicy Islands of Zanzibar, or the spot fishing and scuba diving in the Island of Mafia. There are inquires about opportunities to trade and invest in Tanzania and take advantage of essentially zero quota and tariff access to markets of America, Europe, Eastern and Southern Africa and also Japan and China. The fact that Kilimanjaro coffee, Africafe Instant Coffee, Makonde Wood Sculpture, Tingatinga paintings and Kanga fabrics are increasingly becoming cherished goods in Japanese homes and that Swahili language is taught in several reputed Japanese universities, is evidence of the potential that exist for deepening Japan-Tanzania relations. A recent development is Japanese Business interest in Tanzania's rich Iron Ore and Coal resources and also the potential for woodchip for paper industry, oil seeds for food industry and biomass fuels for the transport industry. The Tanzania Embassy to Japan presents to you its Website http://www.tanzaniaembassy.or.jp in order to provide basic specialized information on various subjects of interest to many and various audiences.
